Joshua Onoyom, a Nigerian man, has been found guilty of raping a 5-year-old kid by a Family Court in Calabar, Cross River State.
On Thursday, July 22, 2021, Hon. Justice E.E. Ita, the sitting Judge of the Family Court, found Onoyom guilty.
The Basic Rights Counsel Initiative was essential in securing the conviction (BRCI), Head of BRCI, Bar. James Ibor, confirmed the news in a statement, saying the offender will be sentenced on Friday, July 23.
“Hon. Justice E.E Ita (of the Calabar Family Court Judicial Division) recently found Joshua Onoyom guilty of raping a 5-year-old child. The sentencing date has been set for July 23, 2021. The Judiciary, the Hon. Attorney General, the Commissioner of Police, Blessing Egwu, the Staff and Volunteers of the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), and the Child Protection Network are all thanked for their assistance, according to the statement.
