Jide Babs, as he is affectionately known, has dedicated over 40 years to the theatre. He stated that the epic will feature a thousand cast members and that things were being cleaned up in order to provide a great film that the general people would like because it is based on a true narrative about Lagos.
“I am preparing to begin production on a huge epic film named ‘Ogun Ahoyaya.’ It’s a film that has a special place in my heart. Being a prince in Lagos and a descendent of ObaKosoko, the film will reveal a lot of information that many people are unaware of.
Ww performed Ogun Ahoyaya in the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, during Lagos at 50, and it was a big success. Consider the possibilities for a film adaptation. We’re still looking for partners and sponsors. Babskos Company is leading this collaborative initiative.
The film, according to the secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), will be a watershed moment in the Nigerian film industry’s history.
Ogun Ahoyaya is a historical play set in Lagos during the eighteenth century. It is based on the mythology of King Kosoko and King Akintoye’s conflict. Prince Kosoko is the legitimate heir to the throne of Lagos. However, due to a feud between him and Prime Minister Eletu Odibo, his nephew Akintoye is crowned king under the guise that Prince Kosoko could not be found when Oba Oluwole died. When King Akitoye discovers who Kosoko is, he convinces his people to go on a search for him in order to force him to return to Lagos.
