The Kwara State Chapter of MACBAN, which made the declaration on Sunday in Ilorin, stated that the Federal government must arrest and prosecute popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho for the crimes he committed at the Fulanis in Igangan, Ibarapa local government of Oyo State.
MACBAN said it was worried that Fulanis have been profiled as criminals, while there are good and bad people in every ethnic group.
“Just as you have in any society where there are good and bad people. It is not only Fulanis that commit crimes in the country, but it was sad that everything happening now is heaped on Fulani herdsmen.”
Making the position of MACBAN known, the coordinator, Kwara State branch, Aliyu Mohammed, said every foodstuff going to South-West states of Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo, will be blocked by the association task force in Kwara, until their positions are met.
MACBAN said it has directed its task force to continue enforcement of seizing trucks of foodstuffs going to any South-West state en route Kwara for their satefy.
Alhaji Aliyu disclosed that MACBAN has constituted vigilante group that will work with security agencies to fish out criminal herdsmen in the bush in all the South-West states.
He said the vigilante group will be inside the bushes and places where the security forces can not cover.
“We have concluded at our meeting today that anybody who comes to Kwara State claiming to be Fulani herder under questionable circumstances, will be reported to the security agencies for necessary action.
“Our vigilantes will monitor the bush and the forests where there are no security agencies and report suspected cattle rustlers who disguise as cattle herders to perpetrate crimes,” MACBAN said.
